Many Hats

Many hats have been made in the last couple of months...  although not as many as I would like to have made.  Working really puts a damper on creativity.  I have been playing around with different crochet hat designs and more than anything, I have wanted to come up with a fun crochet cloche style hat.  I have made a couple that I am almost happy with.  I have also been enjoying the earflap crochet hat.  They are always so cute and warm. 

I Heart Rummage!

Yesterday I set up shop at I Heart Rummage, a craft sale event here in Seattle.  It was my first vending experience and it was so fun!  So many wonderful handmade items for sale!  I will be participating again in the near future with more hats, earrings and some other suprises.  It was a slow day, but a good start.

The Victorian Collar

A friend challenged me to make her a crocheted Victorian style collar. I asked what she meant and she vaguely explained that she wanted a sort of long collar that fits somewhat tight around her neck. I started to look for examples of Victorian style collars and found a few and then attempted a collar for Kelli. She loves and almost always wears dark pinks, purples and blues, so I went through the stash and found some soft yarn in those colors.

This is what I came up with... so far...

After I showed her what I had we decided to add more purple "lace" to the top so it comes up higher and blossoms out under her chin a bit. It should be good for winter.

Middle Ages, Medieval Fashion...

I have a new found interest in all things medieval, particularly fashion. I have been searching for images and photos of clothing from the middle ages to get a real sense of what real clothing actually looked like as opposed to modern costumes. I have also been looking for the influence medieval fashion has on modern fashion (if any). So this is the beginning of my historical journey through fashion of the middle ages.
